Blogmas Day 23: A Day In My Life – Christmas Edition!

Hey guys! I honestly can’t remember if I did a Day In The Life post last month (it’s supposed to be a monthly post), I don’t think I did. I’ll just continue on for this month, this time with a Christmas-themed one! I’ll be giving a look back at yesterday (December 22nd) and some of the Christmasy things I did (and, really, tiring things, too). I didn’t take many pictures. In fact, I only took two… But that’s okay! I’ve got plenty to talk about!

The day before (December 21st), my family had gone to SeaWorld. It was freezing cold, and by the time we left, I couldn’t feel my fingers at all, haha! When we got home, I was SUPPOSED to have read the rest of a book I’ve been reading. However, I was all warm and exhausted from the day’s events, and I ended up falling asleep instead, at 10:30PM no less. That’s early for me! I ended up sleeping all the way until 9AM, which starts off my Day In The Life. I had set aside the day to bake some things for a friend, but for the morning, I decided to relax a little. Christmas movies were playing, and I read A Christmas Carol and drank hot chocolate. I’d say I was pretty successful in relaxing (except for the fact that I constantly had the stress of trying to reach 100 books for the year in the back of my head).

When the afternoon came around, I got baking! I made some chocolate chip-butterscotch cookies, which were pretty good if I do say so myself. Here is a picture of them…

I was afraid they wouldn’t turn out right, but I think they were fine! It is known among my family and friends that I make good chocolate chip cookies. I have the recipe committed to memory, and sometimes I add some new things to it. However, sometimes they don’t turn out very good, so I was glad that they did this time!

While I baked, I listened to the audiobook of Agatha Christie’s Cards on the Table. I did end up finishing it today, but I have to admit I didn’t really like it as much as her other books. I’ll talk more about that in my next What I Read… post, of course! Anyway, after these cookies were ready, I also made some oatmeal cookies. The dough for the oatmeal cookies had to go in the fridge for a while, so I got some Christmas gifts ready while I waited.

Finally, the time came to leave! It is pretty cold here in Texas right now, though it’s not as cold as it is up North! We actually got to the 20s today, with a wind chill in single digits (at this very moment, the wind chill is 5 degrees). Pretty unnatural for Texas, but it must be making up for the horrendous heat we had in the summer! My dad and I went to UPS to drop off a package, then we headed over to this comic book store, where we found a gift for my brother. I also bought two manga for myself that I’ve been meaning to read: Final Fantasy: Lost Stranger Vol. 6 & 7. I was reading the series a while back, but stopped for a bit. You’ll see more about this in my What I Read… post.

After going through that super cool store, we headed to my friend’s house to drop off the cookies, and I got some cookies in return! It was super good to see her! Then I was back on the road to go home. There was no time to rest at home, because it was time to decorate gingerbread houses! We had three of them, and my siblings and cousin divided into teams to make them. I was on a team with my cousin. We did our best, but…well, see for yourself…

You can see the other two houses in the background and you can tell that they look quite nice. And then there’s this monstrosity… Well, it fell apart when we were trying to decorate it, because I didn’t realize we were supposed to put that cardboard thing on the roof to hold it together. I guess it was so tall that gravity just isn’t kind to the roof pieces, so it needs a little extra help? I don’t know! But yeah…my cousin and I decided it was like, a 5-6/10. A for effort, I guess? Haha!

I made myself some dinner and was finally able to relax a little. I accidentally stomped on the business end of a cord the other day and messed up my foot, so if I stand on it too long it starts to ache. So I was glad to finally sit down! All of my activities for the rest of the night were for sitting, haha!

I watched some Great British Bake-Off with my sisters (though something about that show annoys me, I don’t know why). Then it was time for something I’ve been meaning to do for a while now. I finally got around to planning out my last two years of college! I’ve got seven more semesters to go at UTSA, including the upcoming spring semester, and two summer semesters. It’s not going to be easy to get this degree, but I’m going to give it my all! Lord willing, I will graduate in fall 2024. Before then, however, I will be getting my Associates of Science this May with the credits I got at my community college! I wasn’t sure if I’d actually do that or not, but I decided to go for it!

While I did that (And while I wrote this post), I listened to one of my favorite bands, Beach House. I found them not to long ago, and I liked them immediately. I was never sure of what sort of music fit my personality, but I think I’ve finally found my vibe. Their music is awesome, I highly recommend it! Especially Space Song, Once Twice Melody, and Wildflower.

Finally, I worked on my novel before heading to bed. It was a great day, albeit a busy one!

What about your day? Did you do anything to prepare for Christmas? Let me know in the comments below! And as always, God bless y’all and have a wonderful Friday!
