Hey guys! It feels like forever since I’ve blogged, since many of the posts that have been releasing were all written long before it was their turn to be posted. I like preparing things ahead of time! I had a tiny bit of time off from blogging, though, so today I’m going to be catching up with my posts, starting with this week’s Weekly Dose of Scripture! Since we’re still in the month of February, we’re going to be checking out another verse about love. Take a look!
Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires. – Song of Songs 2:7
This is more for all my single peeps out there, but it’s good for everyone to see! Actually, this verse is stated multiple times throughout the book of Song of Songs, so that probable means we’re supposed to be paying a lot of attention to it. Basically, it’s saying that we should never take love into our own hands. As single people, this might be difficult to do sometimes. Trust me, I know!
I’ve had a lot of conversations with different people on the subject of singleness. I get told a lot to just enjoy my single days, or how I should be patient. I’ve had people tell me they don’t understand why being single is upsetting at times. But the truth is, for those of us who desire to be married, being single can be hard. It can be lonely. And when it seems like everyone else around you has their man or their woman, it can hurt. Sometimes being told to be patient, or that we should be having fun in our unattachment, can be more annoying than helpful. I think that sometimes the only comfort we might be able to find in this time will come from God’s Word. In this verse, we are told not to awaken love until it so desires. It can be hard to be patient, but it will be so worth it!
If we chase after love, we may only end up getting hurt. You do NOT want to end up falling in love with someone, or worse, marrying someone, who is not on the same page as you. It could even had dangerous consequences that will not be worth it in the end. God has a plan for all of us, and for some of that means marriage. If it is His will, it WILL come! But in the waiting, it is our job to put our whole hearts into what we already have. It is especially a good time for us to focus on God! Not only that, but there’s probably lessons to learn in this time, as I have found. I’m still learning a lot about myself and God. I know it would be a little harder to learn these things if I wasn’t single. Yeah, it’s lonely a lot of times to be single, but I can have faith that God knows the desires of my heart. You can have faith for that, too!
I hope this encourages you in your singleness! You are never alone, and you are loved!
God bless y’all and have a wonderful week!
