Weekly Dose of Scripture 1/5/23

Hey guys! It’s the first verse of February, so that means we’ll be switching over to our themed verses for the month! Obviously February is the month of Valentine’s day, so many people associate February with love. But it doesn’t have to be romantic love! For the next few weeks, we’ll be looking at what the Bible has to say about love; loving God, God’s love, and loving each other. Take a look at this one!

Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. – Romans 13:8-10

We are to love others as God loves. As we love ourselves. Showing love to someone else can be as easy as giving them a smile as they walk by, or perhaps doing a task for them. There are so many ways we can show love to others. It can be difficult to show love to people sometimes. Maybe they are cruel to us, or their beliefs do not line up with our own. But we must remember that God has the right to vengeance, not us. It is our job to love others as He loves them. That doesn’t mean we should conform to those around us, and change our beliefs to suit them. It just means that we should treat them with kindness. There is enough hate in this world to go around. It’s time we showed love, instead.

I hope this encourages you to love your neighbor as yourself! As always, God bless y’all and have a wonderful week!
