Blogmas Day 14: 2023 Book Releases

Hey guys! As you might know, I’m on a mission to read 100 books before the year is out. At the time of writing this particular post, I’m only at 79 books, which means I have a lot of reading ahead of me. But I haven’t gotten enough of books yet, because I decided to discuss some upcoming releases for today’s Blogmas post! These books will all be released in 2023, and they are ones I’m especially looking forward to reading. Check them out!

The Brothers Hawthorne by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

I heard about this a couple months ago, and I was so excited to see that Barnes is writing another Inheritance Games book! I still haven’t finished the third one, but I was already feeling the drag of knowing a series you like is almost over. This announcement was just what I needed! I believe this book comes after the events of The Final Gambit, but I’m not entirely sure. All I know as that I’m going to get more time with those crazy Hawthorne boys!

Release Date: August 29, 2023

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Chalice of the Gods by Rick Riordan

On the same day I learned about The Brothers Hawthorne, I also found about about this Percy Jackson book. However, I guess the weight of this announcement didn’t really register with me right away. At the time, my co-worker had texted me the announcement, but I was in the middle of setting up for an orientation for my organization. I legit thought the announcement was fake, and I barely gave it a second thought. I have been wanting another Percy Jackson and the Olympians book for a LONG TIME. I guess I just couldn’t believe one was finally coming! As time went on, I realized it was not a trick, and there really was a new one coming. I have a feeling this book will be bittersweet, since we get the original trio of Percy, Annabeth, and Grover- but this time, they’re all grown up. Still, I am SO ready for this!

Release Date: September 26, 2023

The Stolen Heir by Holly Black

Y’all. HOW DID I MISS THIS? Ok, I missed this because of my own inability to process information, I guess, because I literally just realized the moment I sat down to write this post that this book was coming. I had seen the announcement on Instagram, but like the new Percy Jackson book, I was just like, “meh” and kept scrolling. A couple years ago, I got The Cruel Prince trilogy for Christmas and read all three very quickly before moving on to How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories. I LOVE these books, and I remember sitting there wishing there were more of them. As it turns out, The Stolen Heir IS another Elfhame book. It’s set eight years after The Queen of Nothing, and follows a new character, along with an original character, Oak. Oak is all grown up, of course, but I’m SO excited to see what Black does with him. I can’t believe I let this announcement get by me the first time, but now that I know of it, I’ll be getting it right away!

Release Date: January 3, 2023

The Other Side of Infinity by Joan F. Smith

I saw this book and was first intrigued by the cover, which is beautiful, by the way. Then I read the synopsis, and now I know I’ve got to read this book. There’s a girl with the power of foresight, and she falls in love with a man who’s life is at stake, according to her powers. So the book is about her trying to save his life. I don’t know about you, but this sounds like the book for me! Usually I don’t go for romances unless they have a twist in them, such as this foresight power. This one sticks out to me, so I’m hoping I end up enjoying it when I read it!

Release Date: April 25, 2023

Fallen City by Adrienne Young

I hadn’t heard of this book until now, but I guess this has been a thing for a while? So far only an extremely brief synopsis has been released, with mentions of a city that’s falling apart (are you surprised?), a forbidden romance, and stuff like that. The synopsis had me at “forbidden romance,” and, of course, the fact that it’s written by Adrienne Young. While I’m not a giant fan of the Fable books, I do like her writing style and the vibe it gives off. I have a feeling I’ll probably be picking this one up whenever it releases.

Release Date: 2023 (Supposedly)
