It’s the first Sunday in November! For some reason, I keep thinking that we’re farther into November than we really are, then I look at the calendar and realize we’re still in the single digit days. That’s fine with me, because it means my math exam is still more than a week away, haha! Anyway, I usually start doing Scripture in line with the holiday season around this time of year, and I will be doing the same again. For November, it’s going to be all about giving thanks to God. Check out this verse!
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. – James 1:17
Every blessing we have, whether we recognize them or not, comes from God. Maybe you get to have a roof over your head, or something to eat when you’re hungry. Maybe you’re in good health. Even the fact you woke up this morning! These are some obvious blessings that we should give thanks for! But what about the ones that aren’t so obvious, like maybe you had a door shut in your face that you thought you wanted, like a new job or perhaps a boyfriend/girlfriend. Things like that could be blessings from God, too- more things we can thank Him for! He knows what’s best for you, and if you follow Him, He will bless you with “good and perfect gifts”. Sometimes they might not be obvious, or they might not seem like good gifts from above, but God’s plans for you is the greatest blessing you could ever receive. Just wait and see! And for all of those blessings, we should be thanking Him every day!
I hope this encourages you to find the blessings God has given you, and to give thanks for them! As always, God bless y’all and have a wonderful Sunday!
