Quote of the Week 5/2/22

Hey guys! We’re starting off this brand new week with a quote, and I will once again be using a book quote! I honestly don’t use that many book quotes, but maybe I’ll make May be a month of all quotes from popular novels? I think I’ll do that! Last week was obviously not May, but I just had to use a Brandon Sanderson quote while it was still on my mind (let’s be real, that quote is always on my mind, haha!). Anyway, let’s start off with a highly popular fantasy novel from another brilliant author…

“I would have come for you. And if I couldn’t walk, I’d crawl to you, and no matter how broken we were, we’d fight our way out together-knives drawn, pistols blazing. Because that’s what we do. We never stop fighting.” – Kaz Brekker (Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo)

There’s like this endless hype-fest for the Six of Crows duology, and I finally got into it last December. I do think that it is deserving of the hype! The writing is beautiful, and Bardugo seriously influenced a lot of my own writing. But the characters!!! I love them!!! They are so unique, and each have their own traumatizing backstory, which is just great for them, right? Well, the main romance aside from Nina and Matthias is between Kaz and Inej, and it is definitely the most different romance I’ve ever seen. Both have been through horrific experiences leaving them both with a severe aversion to physical human contact, especially Kaz. It was intriguing to see how they relationship played out, and I feel like this quote captures how they are. After Inej was captured in Six of Crows, Crooked Kingdom began with Kaz trying to get her back. If you’re a Grishaverse fan, then you probably knew I was doing this quote when you say the cover image, because it is one of the most popular quotes from this book. It’s certainly a great one!

What do you think about this quote? Are you a Bardugo fan? Let me know in the comments below!

As always, God bless y’all and have a wonderful week!
