Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Trailer

Hey guys! So yesterday, Square Enix released a brand new trailer for the next Final Fantasy game, titled Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin! This game was announced back at E3 2021, and when the announcement trailer came on, I literally didn’t even know it was FF until the logo came on the screen. I didn’t like that trailer, and it didn’t really look like it was going to be a good game.

But y’all, this trailer changed my mind. Ever since I first saw it, I can’t stop thinking about it! Yeah, I’m probably not going to be playing it because I just don’t really have the desire to play an M rated game, but oh boy, the second half of this trailer is gorgeous! Take a look!

I’m not exactly sure what the plot to this game is, or even what it is really. At first I thought it was a prequel for the first Final Fantasy (this year happens to be Final Fantasy’s 35th anniversary), but further research showed me this might actually be a retelling of that game. I think that’s actually a great idea…I just wish Square Enix had chosen to stick to the lighter aspects of Final Fantasy to keep it rated T as it usually is. But just to make sure this is clarified, this is a spin-off, and is NOT a part of the original Final Fantasy series. Final Fantasy 16 seems to still be a ways off, and I will update y’all on that as more information releases.

Obviously from the trailer, we can see that as a Final Fantasy spin-off, this is quite different from the FF we know and love. I think I almost flipped the table over when I heard Frank Sinatra singing, because that is NEW. But guys, I think it might be genius of Square Enix, because Sinatra’s My Way actually fits perfectly here in my opinion. I don’t know why, but it just screams Final Fantasy to me, especially that last shot with the palace in the background. It’s just beautiful!

I think it’s interesting how they chose Frank Sinatra’s music here. In Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory and in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake we had Jazz music, but they’ve never done this before and I’m really excited to see what happens with it moving forward!

Will you be playing this game when it releases? Let me know in the comments below, as well as your thoughts on Square Enix using Frank Sinatra’s music!

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will release on March 18th.
