Blogmas Day 14: End Of The Year Book Tag

Hey guys! For Blogmas day 14, I thought I’d do something a little different! As you can see from the title, this will be my “End of the Year Book Tag”! This tag is usually found on BookTube channels, or on blogs that mainly discuss books, but I thought I’d give it a try! If you saw my “Christmas Tag” post, it’s a little like that! I just answer the prompts, but instead of Christmas, it’s based around books. Usually people do it in September/October/November, but obviously that time is passed for me. But that’s okay! We’re still at the end of the year! So let’s get into it!

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

Unfortunately, yep! So last August I read American Royals by Katharine McGee and I REALLY enjoyed it. Of course I wanted to get into the sequel as soon as I could, but by the time I got it, it had been awhile and the buzz from the first book had faded a bit. I got a little over fifty pages into the second book before I became bored and I wanted something else (if I remember correctly, I think it was the sequel that actually caused my reading slump in September-October). Anyway, I still need to finish that book, but I don’t think it will be this year. Oh well!

Do you have a book or autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

Nope! I’m not usually a seasonal reader, I just like reading whatever I want no matter what time of year it is. Sometimes I have my usual Christmas rereads, and in October I like reading creepier stuff like Edgar Alen Poe’s writing, but besides that I just read what I feel like reading.

Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

As of right now, no. The book I had been waiting for, The Excalibur Curse by Kierstern White, just came out last week! Besides that, there wasn’t really anything that was catching my eye, and the only reason The Excalibur Curse did was because I read the first two books. I’m in a hate-love relationship with that series, but I’m invested now, so I might as well read until the end, right?

What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

There are a lot of books I’d like to have read by the end of the year. The top three would be Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon, and The Other Side of the Sky by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner. I’m probably going to lower my reading goal to 65 books since I’m a little stressed with how much books I have to read (and I don’t want reading to be stressful!), and I would really like to get to these three, but obviously fantasy is a little on the longer side so I was worried about the reading goal. Anyway, that’s totally besides the point, but yeah, I’d really like to just get those read already, because it would be about time!

Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favorite book of the year?

Maybe Six of Crows? I’m not sure, because right now my favorite book of the year is The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson, and it’s going to take a darn good book to dethrone it. Six of Crows has a chance, and if it did, I don’t know if I’d really be that surprised since I have high expectations going into that book already. Besides that though, the only other really surprising one would be The Sun is Also a Star.

Have you already started making reading plans for 2022?

Nope! Like I said before, I usually read whatever I feel like in a given moment, even though I have my monthly TBRs. With that said, I don’t even write my TBRs until a few days before the next month begins, so I only know what I’ll be reading a few days before each month begins. I have a feeling it’ll be the same for 2022! As for reading goals, in a strange world where I wouldn’t have to go to school or work and I could just read all day, I would say I want to read 100 books in 2022. However, I will be working two jobs alongside being a fulltime student and some other stuff I have going on, so I highly doubt I’ll be able to get 100 books in. I’ll probably just settle for 60-70!

Those are all the questions! If you’re interested in more content like this, this tag was created by Ariel Bissett, so go check her out! Let me know your thoughts on the tag in the comments, I’d love to hear from you! Also, if there’s anything special you’d like to see me do for Blogmas, tell me your ideas, too!

As always, God bless y’all and have a wonderful week!
