Blogmas Day 7: Christmas Tag

Hey guys! Blogmas day seven here, and with it brings something new! I was checking out a blogger who recently followed me (go check out Various Ramblings of a Nostalgic Italian!), and he had posted a Blogmas thing known as the “Christmas Tag”. I hadn’t heard of it until I read that post, but once I did, I just had to do it myself! Basically, I will answer twenty questions related to Christmas (ones that were on nostalgicitalian’s post), and then I will tag someone to answer the very same questions! I’m pretty excited to do this, so let’s jump into it!

1. When Do You Start Getting Excited For Christmas?

This varies from year to year, honestly. While a lot of times when I’m writing here on the old blog, I can easily show excitement, but in real life, that’s very much not the case! When it comes to Christmas, I sometimes don’t get truly excited until midway into November, but then this year I ended up getting into the Christmas spirit in October! So really it just depends!

2. Is Christmas your favorite holiday?

Indeed it is! However, my most favorite time of the entire year is Christmas Eve night.

3. Do you prefer to stay at home or travel for the holidays?

My family usually stays home, but in 2018 we did take a trip to Colorado! It had been a surprise, and that was actually our Christmas present! It was very exciting!

4. Be honest: do you prefer giving or receiving gifts?

If I’m being really honest, it’s probably a tie between both. I love getting gifts, but I also really love getting things for people!

5. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

Yep! When I was little we used to open one present on Christmas Eve, but when my grandparents moved from Kentucky to where we are now, it is now a tradition to go over to their house and have Christmas there.

6. Have you ever built a snowman?

Despite living in Texas, I have built many snowmen! In February I got to build quite a few when winter storm Uri attacked us.

7. Do you decorate the outside of your home for Christmas?

Only on the porch, but there was talk that we might get icicle lights to hang out on the roof!

8. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

It is entirely fake. In fact, we just recently got a new one, and I really love it! I’ve heard a lot that real trees are fire hazards, so I never really wanted to get one.

9. Most memorable holiday moment?

Hm, this is a hard one! There’s so many to choose from, but I’ll go with this one: 2018 was the year I was trying to catch up with the Kingdom Hearts game in anticipation for Kingdom Hearts 3. There’s a tradition in my family where my two sisters have a slumber party in my room on Christmas Eve night, and that night, I played Kingdom Hearts 2 (which became my favorite Kingdom Hearts game). Now that game always reminds me of Christmas, and now I end up playing the beginning every Christmas Eve!

10. What do you like to do over Christmas break?

It really depends! This year I’ll be brushing up on my coding and animating skills, working on music collabs with a friend from school, and preparing for a big celebration I’ll be having here on the blog for a certain celebration in March! But mostly, I like to read, play video games, and hang out with my family!

11. Which holiday traditions are you most looking forward to this year?

Christmas Eve for sure! Christmas Eve is known as “Momnas” at my house, basically because we all call our grandma “Mom”. Haha, that would be the result of two-year-old me hearing my actual mom call my grandma “Mom”, and it just stuck through the years!

12. Best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?

Now this one is just too hard to narrow down to one! There was the trip to Colorado, which I mentioned above, and that was very neat! One year when I was really little I got the new Nintendo DS when it came out, and in 2018 I also got the pre-order for Kingdom Hearts 3. There’s too many to name!

13. What is your all-time favorite holiday treat?

My mom makes these sausage balls for Christmas morning, and they are to die for! Also, there’s these chocolate cookies she makes, too, but I don’t really remember what they’re called. I’ll be doing a post here soon where I share some holiday recipes, so you’ll definitely see both of those one there!

14. Your favorite Christmas movie?

As I’ve mentioned in other posts (such as in My Top Ten Favorite Christmas Movies!), my favorite Christmas movie is It’s a Wonderful Life. Such. A. Great. Movie.

15. Your favorite Christmas song?

Hands down Nat King Cole’s The Christmas Song. Nothing gets me in the Christmas spirit like that one!

16. What makes the holidays special for you?

The holidays are special to me because I get to spend it with my family! Not only that, but I feel like I get some time to remember the true reason for the season, which is Jesus! Between reconnecting with the Lord and spending time with my family, I always have things to look forward to this time of year!

17. What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

Disney Land and New York are two places I would love to see during the holidays!

18. Do you make New Year’s resolutions? Do you stick to them?

Typically I do, and I have actually posted them on here before, but, like everyone else, I usually don’t stick to them. This year I probably won’t make any and just simply do my best every day of the year using smaller goals!

19. You have been granted one Christmas wish, what will it be?

Oh man, this is a hard one! I think I would wish that my family could all be happy and healthy! Besides that, I’d wish that I could see my best friend again, since I have not seen her since she moved to Ohio around a decade ago (check out Christian Girl Writes!).

20. Who’s “it?”

Now I can tag who will answer these questions next! I’ll go ahead and tag my bestie, Kay over at Christian Girl Writes!

That was quite a bit of information! I hope you enjoyed this post! You can look forward to a bunch of new content coming out every day up until Christmas (and, of course, there will be a lot more after Christmas too!). God bless y’all and have a wonderful week!

  1. Thanks for the “shout out!” Loved reading your answers to these questions. When I was in college, our class had this pot luck and one of the gal brought sausage balls. They were amazing. I had forgotten about them and now will be searching for a recipe!

It is funny how your musical tastes change as you get older. As a kid, I hated The Christmas Song. I wanted to hear Jingle Bells and all the songs about Santa. Today, as an adult, The Christmas Song means so much more to me. Nat’s version is the best hands down. I do like Mel Torme’s version, too. Mel wrote the song and it’s a great story of how it all came together.

I look forward to your next post! – Keith

It’s interesting all right! And I’ll have to listen to that version, I can’t remember if I’ve heard it before!
