Hey guys! We’re here at Blogmas day 2, which means we’re that much closer to Christmas! For today’s events, I will be ranking my top ten favorite Christmas movies! I really love Christmas movies, and this time of year at my house, they’re constantly going on even if we’ve seen them a bazillion times. Take A Christmas Story for example; I’ve seen it so many times I can practically perform the entire movie for you in extreme detail. But of course, it is on 24/7 on Christmas Eve because that’s just what kind of tradition we have at my house, haha! Anyway, let’s get to the list already!
10. Home Alone
I have actually only recently seen this one, I believe it was last year. I really wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I did, so that was good! Just because this is #10 on the list does not mean I did not like it! That is not the case at all! I really loved the scenery in the movie, and really gives off those Christmasy vibes! Obviously this is a comedy, so it gets you in the mood to laugh, too! If you have not seen this one yet, plan to do so this Christmas!
9. Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas
I may be a twenty year old college student, but Mickey Mouse is my jam (that may or may not have something to do with Kingdom Heart). Whenever my younger brother watch Mickey Mouse cartoons, I’m probably going to be right there with them, which is always the case when they turn on this one! I don’t know why, but this one gives off a lot of nostalgia for me, so there’s a lot of sentimental value that got this movie on the list. I already love Mickey Mouse, but heck, if you throw in Christmas, I’m going to love it for sure! This is the perfect movie for a Christmas movie family night!
8. Frosty the Snowman
Here’s a classic! This is another one that gives off a lot of nostalgic vibes for me, because I used to watch it every Christmas as a kid! The story of the snowman who comes to life with a special hat is iconic, and it is a movie I have always loved! Also, it’s another perfect one for the whole family to enjoy!
7. A Charlie Brown Christmas
Nothing says “the holidays” like Charlie Brown! Starting at Halloween, Charlie Brown will be playing in my house! We go from the Halloween Charlie Brown to the Thanksgiving one, and then to my favorite, A Charlie Brown Christmas. The soundtrack is some of my all-time Christmas music! I especially love that it tells the true meaning of Christmas, since that’s always a great reminder! If you want to get into the Christmas mood, this is definitely a movie you should watch!
6. A Christmas Story
And here is the movie I talked about above! I have always considered A Christmas Story to be the universal Christmas movie because of how iconic the story is. I’ve met a very small number of people who have never seen it before, and I’m always surprised when I do meet them. Most people can pick up on my jokes about new furnaces and BB guns. If you are one of those who have not watched this movie yet, please do yourself a favor and see it this Christmas, because you totally won’t regret it!
5. Miracle on 34th Street (1994)
I have never actually seen the old version of this movie, but I really, really love the 1994 version! I can remember watching it at my grandparents house back when they lived in Kentucky, which would have had to be fourteen or so years ago, which seems crazy to me! This movie has always been special to me because it reminds me of my grandma (the one who used to live in Kentucky). I really need to watch the old version sometime soon!
4. Jim Carrey’s A Christmas Carol
I can’t remember when I first saw this, but it must have been within the last three years. I’ve always been a big fan of Charles Dickens’ short story, A Christmas Carol, and I had seen multiple movie versions of it. However, Jim Carrey’s is my favorite so far! I love the creepiness of it, and I feel like it interprets the short story very well. It’s now a tradition that my sisters and I watch it once school lets out for Christmas break, and I’m really excited for that!
3. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Like Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is another nostalgic one for me since it was a childhood favorite of mine. I have always loved the music from it, especially Holly Jolly Christmas! This movie really gives the Christmas vibes, especially since it’s one of the classics! If you haven’t seen it this year, go for it! And I’ll be right with you since I have yet to watch it, but that’ll change now that school’s letting out!
2. The Polar Express
This one used to be my favorite Christmas movie, but that changed once I got older. Still, The Polar Express is one that my family watches multiple times when Christmas comes around. The movie is a little bizarre and allegoric, but that’s what I love about it! And though this may be my second favorite, the end of this movie is still my very favorite moment in any Christmas movie, when the main character arrives home to find Santa hasn’t come yet. It’s dark and snowing outside the windows, and I just love it! My family has already watched this one a couple times, but I haven’t had the chance to actually sit and watch it, so I’m hoping to do that soon!
1. It’s a Wonderful Life
And here we are at my number one favorite! It’s a Wonderful Life is just one of those classics that must be watched every year, and though it was on the TV the other day, I didn’t get a chance to actually watch it since I had school. However, I’m really hoping to sit down with some hot chocolate with this movie because it is just really special to me. The story is brilliant, and it’s not only my favorite Christmas movie, it’s also one of my all-time favorite movies in general! If you have not seen this movie yet, definitely give it a try, because it’s one that’ll really tug at your heartstrings!
So that’s all of them! There was a lot that didn’t make this list, but that definitely doesn’t mean I didn’t like them! There’s so many Christmas movies, but these ten are the ones I hold dearest to my heart! Now I want to know what your favorite Christmas movie is! Let me know in the comments below!
As always, God bless y’all! I hope your upcoming weekends are relaxing!
Great list!
