Weekly Dose of Scripture 11/14/21

Hey guys! We’re back to Sunday, and this means another verse! Like I said last week, with November being the month of Thanksgiving, these posts would be themed accordingly. However, I have been moved to take a break from that this week to share a verse that I believe might be encouraging to y’all. Take a look!

David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come before you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied… All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give all of you into our hands.” – 1 Samuel 17:45-47

I’ve been on a mission to read the entire Bible, and while I have been a little slow moving, it has been one of the best experiences of my life. I have read the story of David and Goliath before, especially when I was younger and it was one of the many Bible stories told to us in Sunday school. But I have never felt a stirring in my heart like I did when I read it again a few days ago. This verse jumped out at me, and how can it not? What powerful words! The world will come at us with its version of swords and spears and javelins, but don’t be afraid. You come before the world in the name of the Lord Almighty! The battle is His, and He has already won it for you! Don’t ever back down! The Lord will give you victory!

I really hope this has encouraged you in whatever you might be going through! I will continue with the themed verses next week! Until then, lock this verse away in your heart and meditate on it. As always, God bless y’all and have a wonderful week!
