Weekly Dose of Scripture 10/18/21

Y’all, this week has just been one thing after another! With that being said, the next Unlikely Prince part has been moved to this Saturday (the 23rd), and I’m obviously shifting the dates of my Scripture and Quote posts ahead one day. I got a little behind in school and it’s been a stressful last few days, so that’s why! Anyway, let’s get to this week’s Scripture!

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. – Proverbs 4:23

This was today’s Verse of the Day on the YouVersion Bible App. If you don’t have that app yet, I strongly suggest getting it, because it’s really cool! It has the entire Bible on there, of course, in multiple languages and in multiple versions. You can even listen to someone reading it to you with the recordings! They have hundreds of Devotionals to choose from as well, which I think is really cool and I’ve been making use of that feature! Definitely check it out (it’s FREE! <3)!

Okay, so with that little suggestion out of the way, let’s get to what this verse is all about. Simply put, it’s saying that we must guard out heart, because whatever is in it is what’s going to show in our day to day lives. Think of it this way: if we watch trashy movies and listen to trashy music, we are putting trashy things into our hearts. And guess what? Trashy things will start to come back out of our hearts, too. Maybe we’ll be quicker to get angry, or perhaps we will become very anxious people. We should always surround yourself with things that are pleasant and of good report, just as the Word says. That way only good things will come out of our hearts!

I hope this encourages you to guard your hearts! As always, God bless y’all and have a wonderful week!
