Quote of the Week 4/12/21

Hello everyone! I’m here with a quote from The World Ends With You in order to celebrate the special occasion of not only getting a trailer for the new game coming out (which will be posted here later today), but also for the release of the brand new anime! I watched the first episode when it came out and wooooow, it did NOT disappoint! Anyway, take a look at the quote!

“Same streets, same crowds too. Yeah, Shibuya hasn’t changed a bit. But still, I don’t think I can forgive you yet. You don’t see it, but… those few weeks were very hard for me. Learning to trust people, having that trust broken… Finding out the town I pegged as small, and stifling, and empty… wasn’t any of those things. I’m glad I met you guys. You made me… pick up on things I probably would’ve just gone on ignoring. ‘Trust your partner.’ And I do. I can’t forgive you…but I trust you. You took care of things, right? Otherwise, Shibuya would be gone… and my world with it. Hey, did I mention? I’ve got friends now! We’re getting together for the first time in a week! See you there…?” – Neku (The World Ends With You)

This game is all about not letting life pass you by. It’s about trusting others and forming relationships with people. You can’t do life alone! And Neku, consumed in his own little world, was taught valuable lessons through the course of this game. This line, taken from the very end of the game, was directed towards Joshua, who had been one of his partners in the Reaper’s Game. I believe that Joshua put Neku through all that he did in order to teach him those lessons; yes, people will hurt and maybe even betray you sometimes, but you can’t allow that to make you retreat into a shell. Talk about hardcore character development! We stat this game with Neku hating people; by the end, he’s hanging out with his friends and living life to the fullest!

What do you think about this quote? Let me know in the comments below! As always, God bless and have a wonderful week!
