Quote of the Week 2/7/21

As I said in my Weekly Dose of Scripture post last week, for the month of February my weekly posts will be revolving around the subject of love. Gross, right? Well, anyway, that’s what we’re doing! I thought a lot about what my first quote for the month of February would be, and I decided to go with this one this morning. Take a look!

“I have twenty-three tiny wishes. You probably won’t remember them all, so I made them into one. I want to spend more time with you.” – Aerith Gainsborough (Final Fantasy: Crisis Core)

The story of Crisis Core is one big, gigantic mess of a tragedy, taking place during the war between Midgar and Wutai. And during war, love stories are bound to end bad. Especially when it’s Square Enix. Anyway, Zack and Aerith’s relationship is one of the main points in the game, and near the end before Zack is killed, he recieves a letter from Aerith. The two of them hadn’t seen each other in a good amount of time (was it five or seven years? I can’t remember), and it was the first letter Zack had gotten from her, although it turned out she had written a total of eighty-nine letters to him. Talk about dedication, especially since Zack never wrote back! Zack had been MIA for all that time, but Aerith kept on writing to him. And in that last letter, she mentioned the wishes that she had told him about years before. She combined them all into one, only wanting to spend more time with him. Of course…Zack is killed after this. But we won’t get into that, because that’s just too depressing.

What do you think about this quote? Have another Zack and Aerith quote in mind? I’d love to see it! Start up a conversation in the comments below! God bless y’all and have a wonderful week!

Fun fact: Maaya Sakamoto (the voice of Aerith) and Kenichi Suzumura (the voice of Zack) are married in real life. They have been married since 2011!

All media property of Square Enix
