Quote of the Week 11/10/19 (And Other Fun Stuff)

Alright…before you all say;  PRINCESS GEEK, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?  Ya’ll probably know the answer;  I’ve been busy.  But I haven’t been busy with just anything!  If you’re a writer, then you probably know that this month is known as NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month.  If you don’t know about it, it’s basically a challenge to write an entire novel (50,000 words) in one month.  Of course, the novel can be longer, and extra of course, the work isn’t done if you complete the challenge.  After that, you’ve got to go through the second draft, the third draft, etc. etc.  BUT it is a nice way to motivate yourself to get that hard first draft done!  So, along with the weekly quotes, I’m going to be adding a little update on my NaNoWriMo novel!   So, for starters, we have our quote of the week…

“I just wanted you to see.  You always make the right choices.  On the road ahead, more than one truth will come to light.  You’ll forget things, lose things that you care about, and it won’t always make sense.  It’ll be frustrating, and it’ll make you angry.  It may even hurt so badly you’ll feel like you’re about to lose yourself.  But don’t worry, Sora.  That won’t happen to you.  You won’t let it.  You’re like a sponge.  No matter how much pain they throw at you, you’ll suck it up, and leave things a little bit better.  Just follow your heart, and you can change the lives of not one, but many.  You don’t have to do anything special.  Just do what you do – be yourself.  After all, that’s what you’re good at.  Do what feels right to you.”

– Roxas to Sora (Kingdom Hearts: Coded)

I knew I wanted to use a Coded quote, but I had a really, really hard time trying to figure out which one!  As…strange and confusing as Coded is, it’s actually pretty important to the story at large, and it is FULL of golden quotes like that one.  I may have a lot more to come, because there’s a few that I love.  I decided on this quote because it shows Sora’s character.  No matter what is thrown at Sora, he never stops fighting.  He keeps going, no matter what he’s lost.  In fact, there might be an Inspiring Characters post coming up about him…

NaNoWriMo Update

Moving on from the quote, I want to give you guys a little update on how my NaNoWriMo novel is coming along.  It’s actually been really fun doing this challenge, and I’m already almost done with the book.  I had actually started this book awhile back, so I already had like, five chapters when I started the challenge.  But things were moving really, really slowly, and I had zero motivation.  Deadlines are definitely a good motivator!  So as of now, I have written 18,329 words since the November 1st!  The deadline is November 30th, so I think I’m in pretty good shape!

This is a super fun challenge, and the NaNoWriMo sight has all kinds of neat merch, so you can go check it out!  if you are doing this challenge, or you know someone who is doing it, let me know in the comments below!  Also, what did you think about this week’s quote?  Have another movie/book/game in mind?  Start up a conversation, because I really love hearing form you!  Now, goodnight (or good morning, depending where you live!), and God bless!
