Quote of the Week 10/21/19

Hey guys!  The start of the week is here, and that means it’s time for another quote!  This week, I had a lot of quotes come to mind, but then I realized something.  Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think I’ve EVER done a The World Ends With You quote.  In fact…I don’t think I’ve ever written a post about that game, though I’ve mentioned in in some of my Kingdom Hearts posts.  Once I figured out I wanted a quote from there, I had to go through the trouble of choosing one, Because there’s a lot of good ones in there!  Finally, I landed on this one…

“Only what you TOOK from me!  YOU killed me!”

“Aww, Neku.  You said you didn’t remember!  You sneaky little thing…so what if I did?”

– Neku confronting Joshua (The World Ends With You)

I had just taken my SAT when I my Dad got me Switch remaster of The World End With You.  I had been DYING to play this game ever since I saw the characters in Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance.  When I played it, it blew me away.  I had NO IDEA it was going to be like that.  If Final Fantasy 7 wasn’t so good, this one would be my favorite video game.  The game’s plot is far too complicated to explain here, but I’ll say that each of the characters had been killed, and they were playing the Reaper’s Game to see if they could get a second chance at life.  Each player had to turn in an entry fee, which had to be the thing they valued most.  Neku’s entry fee was his memories, so he didn’t remember how he’d been killed.  Throughout the game, Neku has to form a pact with other players in order to survive.  His second partner is a young boy named Joshua. Joshua was my favorite character (note how I said WAS).  He was so mysterious, and a total smart-aleck jerk, but he intrigued me.  I say he WAS my favorite character, because now it’s kind of a love-hate relationship!  This conversation took place right after Neku has a flashback of his death, and in that flashback, he saw Joshua shoot him point blank.  He confronts Joshua about this, and only receives a cryptic answer.  From there on out, that’s the big question, though the game does it’s best to make it seem like that’s not the case.  I won’t say if Joshua really did kill Neku…that’s for you to find out, if you’ve never played the game…
