What’s up guys? I’m back with another quote, and this week’s was a little hard because there was a lot that I wanted to do! I settled on one that I think is pretty popular in the Final Fantasy fandom! Take a look…
“You’re a little more important than my sword…but just a little.” – Angeal Hewley (Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core)
I LOVE Crisis Core, despite it being one of the saddest games out there. There characters are great, and Angeal is one of my favorites! Angeal grew up dirt poor, and he got pretty good and saving things. He told Zack Fair, the protagonist of the game and Angeal’s BFF, that he didn’t use his sword very often because “use causes wear and tear and rust”. A little later, he ended up using it to save Zack’s life. When Zack asks about him using his sword that time, Angeal springs this quote. And here’s something about that sword; it’s actually the Buster Sword, which get’s passed to Zack when Angeal dies, and then passed to Cloud when Zack dies. Of course, we don’t need to talk about that because we’ll all start to remember everything that happened and then we’ll get the feels…but that’s probably to late, isn’t it?

That’s a great quote and a really good scene. The Japanese actually sounds better, in my opinion; there’s a certain way Angeal’s Japanese actor says, “Well, just a *little*” that doesn’t quite translate to the English version. I don’t know why the inflection is missing in the English translation, but it’s there in the Japanese.
Angeal is a good character. I like him a lot, too, though I think Zack may be my favorite. Did you know Zack is actually *the* most popular FFVII character in Japan? Cloud actually came in second place on the poll taken of Japanese fans.

That’s interesting! I might have to watch the Japanese version of the scene. Honestly, the Japanese versions of games are sometimes better than the English versions.
I can see why he’s so popular! My sisters and I are HUGE Zack Fair fans! Cloud is a very good character and has been around longer, but Zack is just a really special character. I can’t wait to see him again in the remake! I think making Aerith his girlfriend in Crisis Core was a really good move. I remember the part in FF7 when you go to Gongaga and meet Zack’s parents…only for them to ask you where their son is, because they haven’t heard from him in a long time and they ask if Tifa was the girlfriend he had referred to in his last letter to them. Another side note, Aerith’s death was made sadder by CC. The bow in Aerith’s hair was bought by Zack, and she said she’d never take it out. When Aerith dies, it falls out. 😭😭😭
