Every hardcore EU Star Wars fan probably knows the story of the 2008 video game The Force Unleashed. Darth Vader gets himself an apprentice named Galen Starkiller behind The Emperor’s back. Of course, this didn’t end well when the Emperor found out and Vader is forced to kill Galen, but doesn’t succeed in this. Galen eventually turns good and sacrifices himself for his friends. Along many other stories, The Force Unleashed was thrown out when Disney purchased Star Wars. Ever since then, a few characters were able to come back into canon through new Star Wars content such as Star Wars Rebels. The most exciting character to return so far is obviously Grand Admiral Thrawn. But he almost wasn’t going be the only character to return in the third season of the animated series. It was recently revealed that Galen Starkiller was going to make his return to the Star Wars Universe, but it ended up not making the cut. I know about you, but i would have loved to see Starkiller come back. I loved the Force Unleashed games. It feels like someone telling you what they almost got you for Christmas when they reveal stuff like this; it’s really annoying. I’m guessing bringing him back would have caused problems for the rest of Star Wars canon. This was all confirmed during an interview by the character’s voice actor, Sam Witwer, who also voiced Darth Maul in The Clone Wars and Rebels TV series. His exact words were…
“Dave Filoni did share with me, by the way, he considered making Starkiller an inquisitor in Star Wars Rebels. It didn’t quite fit the story they were telling, but he did think about it because he did think about it because he thought it would be interesting.”\
Making Starkiller an inquisitor would definitely be an interesting thing. I guess all that we can do now is play Force Unleashed and wonder what could have been.
What Do you think about this reveal? Would you have liked to see Galen Starkiller back in action? Let me know in the comments!
