40 Years of Star Wars: My Top 10 Favorite Memories

It’s time to celebrate all you Star Wars fans, Star Wars turns 40 today!  Star Wars is a story that continues to excite us.  In this post, I’m going to countdown and relive my favorite Star Wars memories.

10. When Darth Maul Returned Against All Odds

When Phantom Menace came out in 1999, I’m sure everyone thought that Darth Maul was gone for good.  I sure did when I first saw the movie.  But no, Maul is a character that is not easily killed.  After getting his legs chopped off, Maul made his triumphant return in 2012 in the TV series The Clone Wars.  Unfortunately, he didn’t stick around too long.  A couple years later, to my surprise and happiness, he was brought back again in the TV series Star Wars Rebels.  I was certain that my favorite character would never die, but I was proven wrong when the episode Twin Suns aired in March and saw the end of the stubborn former Sith.  Oh Well.

9. Reading Timothy Zahn’s Thrawn Trilogy

About five or six years ago, I had just finished watching all of the Star Wars movies.  What was I to do?  Thankfully, I was introduced to Timothy Zahn’s Thrawn Trilogy.  I was saved!  Those three books were some of the greatest books I have ever read, and I still go back and read them sometimes.  It’s too bad that the stories and characters were thrown out when Disney bought Star Wars.

8. When Ahsoka Came To Star Wars Rebels

I will never forget watching that Clone Wars episode when Ahsoka left the Jedi Temple.  I was so crushed, since she was one of my favorite characters.  I was thinking that she would come back in season 6, but she never did.  Thankfully, Ahsoka made a surprise return in the season one finale of Star Wars Rebels.  Ok, well, maybe not a surprise to me.  You see, I am a spoiler sponge.  I kind of knew that Ahsoka would be coming back, but there still was a cheer when she came down that ladder.  I pretended I didn’t know.  But for real, I am still amazed that I did not get spoiled about The Force Awakens after waiting eleven days to finally see it.

7. Seeing Darth Vader In Rogue One

I adore Darth Vader.  I have ever since I was very little.  I was literally devastated when I found out that he died in Return of the Jedi.  I eventually got over it though.  I was really hoping that he would be in Rogue One, and I was not disappointed.  My two favorite parts in Rogue One consist of Darth Vader.  I mean, how epic was that ending?  Still gives me the chills to this day.

6. When Captain Rex made His Surprise Return

I may be a major spoiler and rumor sponge, but I had no clue at all that Captain Rex would be returning.  I watched the Star Wars season two trailer and I had a fangirl attack when I saw him.  I’m glad to see that he denied Order 66 and didn’t get killed.  Cheers to him and his buddies, Wolf and Gregor.  Though, Gregor did seem to have lost his mind a little bit.

5. Watching The Force Awakens Trailer

The finale trailer for The Force Awakens was absolutely amazing.  First of all, I hate Football.  I’m sorry, but I really do.  So when I found out the trailer was going to be shown during this Football game, I was kind of unpleased.  But I managed to sit through two halves of the game and I got to see the trailer.  #WorthIt

4. Seeing The Force Awakens For The First Time

I had to wait for eleven days after the release of The Force Awakens to finally see the movie.  I spent that time dodging spoilers and avoiding the internet.  When the day finally came, I waited two hours in front of the room where The Force Awakens was going to be played.  I don’t think time ever moved so slowly in my life.  In the end, I thought it was a great movie.  It was my first Star Wars movie in a theater, so it’s a great memory, even though I had to wait forever and Han Solo died.

3. When Thrawn Returned To Canon

I was really sad when I found out the all of the Expanded Universe had been trashed.  There went all of those stories and characters that I loved.  Among them was Grand Admiral Thrawn.  A few months before Star Wars Rebels season three aired, there was rumors going around that Thrawn would make his return to canon through Rebels.  I didn’t really believe it at first.  You can imagine my surprise when that unforgettable Rebels season 3 trailer revealed that the rumors were true.

2. Watching Ahsoka Fight Her Former Master In Star Wars Rebels: Twilight of the Apprentice

When Ahsoka came to Rebels, I knew it was only matter of time before she met up with Darth Vader.  But I never imagined it would be like that.  That was the most emotional battle I ever saw.  That moment when Ahsoka broke Vader’s mask and confirmed her worst fears, that Vader was Anakin, was epic and sad at the same time.  This battle did not disappoint.  To this day, Ahsoka’s fate remains a mystery.

1.  Seeing Star Wars For The First Time

About ten years ago, when I was at the young age of six, I was introduced to the galaxy far, far away.  The first thing I ever saw of Star Wars was the beginning of Return of the Jedi.  I never saw a full Star Wars movie until much later, but that moment will always stick with me.  Over the years, I’ve become a huge Star Wars fan.  I’ve gone as far as waking up at three o’clock in the morning to watch the live stream of the Star Wars Celebration and convincing my amazing, brilliant Mom to redo my room theme to Star Wars.  I will never stop being a Star Wars fan.

I can’t wait to see what will happen with the future of Star Wars.  My dream is to become an actress for Star Wars, or work at Lucasfilms.  What is your favorite Star Wars memory? Let me know in the comments!
